New Found Glory at Rams Head Live

New Found Glory

A New Found Glory concert is exactly what you would expect.  High energy, loud, a little dangerous; in other-words, awesome.  When the guys stopped at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live as part of the Glamour Kills Tour, they delivered exactly what has become the normal for New Found Glory.  They opened the show with a bang and never let up.

The Glamour Kills Tour is in full swing.  Opening acts Candy Hearts, Fireworks, and We Are The In Crowd set the tone for the rest of the night.  The crowd, who was a mixed bag of concert newby pre-teens to seasoned middle aged punks, was supportive of the opening acts, most notably for WATIC’s “Manners“.  The band has just recently released a video for the song.  After We Are The In Crowd’s final song, but long before the lights dimmed for New Found Glory, the crowd made sure the band new they were ready for them.  Chants of “NFG! NFG!” most certainly drowned out the sound of the Orioles game that was being played on the TVs of the countless bars that surround Rams Head Live.

You might have heard, New Found Glory just recently released their 8th studio album, titled Resurrection.  The album has been well received – it debuted at #25 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.  When the guys took the stage, they wasted no time jumping into their new material, kicking their set off with the first track from the album, “Selfless“.  Instantly, there was crowd surfing, mosh pits, pushing, shoving, and sloshing beer.  Next, New Found Glory took it back to 2002 with “Understatement”, which comes from Sticks and Stones.  I think a lot of the crowd was relieved that the band opted to include a lot of their older material in the set, despite having a new record.  New Found Glory has been around a long time, and many of their fans, including myself, get nostalgic over the old stuff.

New Found Glory made their way through their discography at Rams Head Live, playing songs from all 8 of their albums.  The band made sure that they included their hits, including “My Friends Over You” and “Hit Or Miss“.  They also gave the crowd a good dose of Resurrection, playing 4 songs from their latest release. With playing so many songs from their earlier material, there wasn’t a lot of room for more from Resurrection. New Found Glory closed out their show at Rams Head Live with “All Downhill From Here” from 2004’s Catalyst.

New Found Glory is seasoned – they have their shit together.  These guys have been playing shows – from festivals to clubs – for years.  You better be ready, because New Found Glory brings the noise.
