New Politics’ release single “Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)”

Denmark has spat out a group of guys who, after nearly winning the Danish National Radio P3’s Karriere Kanonen (“Career Cannon”), relocated to New York City to continue their successful musical career as a punk, pop, and electronically-induced dance-rock band. New Politics, the neo-grunge band made up of David Boyd (vocals), Søren Hansen (guitar/vocals), and Poul Amaliel (drums), signed with RCA Records in 2009, and released their self titled debut album in July of 2010. “New Politics ” features ten songs, including their hit single “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah”.  To promote the album, the band toured with headliners Thirty Seconds to Mars.  In fall of 2010, after much contemplation, New Politics original drummer Poul Amaliel decided to leave the band and return to Denmark to pursue other music projects.  Current drummer Louis Vecchio stepped in, and the band didn’t miss a beat.

In November of 2012, New Politics released “Harlem“, the first single from their second album “A Bad Girl In Harlem”.  The song, which was inspired by Boyd’s fling with a girl from Spanish Harlem, would become a huge success, and go on to sell 238,000 downloads.  After serving as the opening act for Fall Out Boy and P!nk in 2013, New Politics headlined their Harlem, U.S.A Tour in early 2014 promoting “A Bad Girl In Harlem”.

New Politics “Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)” opens with a driving percussive tempo and a surfer-rock guitar and drum vibe, but kicks into neo-grunge overdrive when the first verse begins. The song’s punk-anthem soul carries strong across the span of the tune, even while regressing into slightly softer refrains. This song was built with mass-appeal, and could have easily been a perfect summer anthem had been released a few months earlier.

New Politics will finish up the summer as the opening act for co-headliners Paramore and Fall Out Boy on the Monumentour in mid September. They will pick right back up where they left off, starting their own Everywhere I Go Fall Tour in October to promote the release of their upcoming record, which will be released under Pete Wentz’s record label DCD2 Records.
