Did Maroon 5 go too far with “Animals”? (NSFW)

Maroon 5 - Animals

Maroon 5 has released the official video for their song “Animals”, the second single from their new album V.  The video features Adam Levine as a creepy butcher, who is fixed on stalking a woman, played by his real-life wife Behati Prinsloo.  Directed by Samuel Bayer, features some pretty bloody scenes, and its safe to say this video is NSFW.  You’ve been warned.

The video has exploded on the internet since its release just 5 days ago.  We’re not sure if this is due to popularity or notoriety, but either way, the video has been making headlines. One sexual assault support group, The Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network (RAINN) has slammed the video, saying “Maroon 5’s video for “Animals” is a dangerous depiction of a stalker’s fantasy — and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance.”  Katherine Hull Fliflet, RAINN’s vice president of communications said in a statement on Wednesday, “The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry.”

What are your thoughts?  Did they take it to far?
